Death.

It was a feathery afternoon
full of surprises
and pink Asters
as the soft breeze tickled
the curtained windows

The ants crawled along
a Diagonal
trotting towards the
carcass
of a raw mango
bruised and lifeless

The scent of crushed blades of grass
wafted up
like sweet perfume
and trembling
at the approaching
groan of thunder
fleeted into the Memories
of a Girl in a mirrored lilac
room

Slowly she felt the curtains
as she drew them open
and unlocked the Window
softly
she climbed onto the sill
and turned her head
to catch a last sliver
of her hair
in the mirrors behind

I went home
late
last night
after a Feast of Friends
You told me you were going
for a run in the sun
to a place
farther
than you'd Ever been before
You told me to drop in
Later

I came home
late
last night
after a feast of friends
You were not in
the night watchman crushed
a beedi he was smoking
and informed me
of your Absence
